Trip To The Beaches In 1 Day! - Part 3

It was dusk when we arrived in Kerteh the day before.

We're attracted to the flame.

As we got closer, the excitement increased.

There were many flame towers.

It's a sight to behold.

Bursting every few seconds.

They're everywhere

On the right, was next to the sea.

What the town looks like during the day

It's an oil town

We first came across this small town in March 2012 and again this time around.  The view during the night is more beautiful .  We had to cross this town on our way to the beaches and back.  I rolled down the window and had to quickly roll it up back again.  The air smelled of cooking gas.

Anyway, this is the only small town in Malaysia with McDonald's restaurant.  Normally only big cities are worthy of a McD.  Well, maybe because there are many expatriates in this town and they flood Kuantan during the weekend for some fun - a 2 hour drive away.  I was made to understand that there are no cinemas in Terengganu for them to enjoy themselves on their off days.

And after this,  we're off to our next beach encounter.

Trip To The Beaches In 1 Day! - Part 2

After Sura, we stopped here.  This was in Pantai Teluk Bidara.

As with Sura, the beach here was beautiful too and the same roughness of the waves. We climbed up a small hill for better view.

It was very windy.

Cloudy with a chance of flood.

We were the only people there, and a stray cat. Super crazy!

People living in the vicinity were all inside. The playground down there looked abandoned.

Strong winds and currents and we're still oblivious to it!

In fact, we're really enjoying ourselves that day.

Because we got the place to ourselves.

There's a lone eagle soaring in the sky of which I'm not sure of its significance to the weather, as we kept enjoying ourselves.

Cow dungs were everywhere and there's one blob here.

Now that I'm thinking of it, we were really jeopardizing ourselves that day without realizing it. Must keep it in our minds the next time around - (a sure sign of going back there in the near future).

Trip To The Beaches In 1 Day! - Part 1

An unplanned trip but it happened and we had a blast despite the weather condition!  First we went to Sura, an area in Pantai Teluk Lipat, Dungun. We arrived there at night. As usual, we didn't book any place to stay.  It was a bit tricky for first-timers arriving here because it was hard to find Sura. But we did arrive there.

Famished! We had to eat first before searching for a place to stay.

And she's happy after she's eaten.

Well, it was quite dark along the beach and very windy that night.

And we finally found a place for the night.

Kenyang after breakfast.

This was next to UiTM Dungun where the river meets the sea.

We went to find the exact spot where the river meets the sea.

But it turned out that the waters didn't meet at all! The rock on the left of this picture separated the sea and the river.  There's a small and narrow crevice next to the rock that allowed the water to flow to the sea.

It was very windy.

Little did we know that we had a narrow escape that day.

Later that evening the place was hit by the heavy monsoon rain combined with the high tide and the area was flooded until today (11.12.13), a week later.

And we didn't notice that there's no one around that day.

The rough sea and the heavy sky.

Again, happily posing for the camera.

A fishermen's shack and we're so ignorant as to why the shack was empty.

So, we were happy we had the place to ourselves.

And snap snap snap.  Meen was ready with a pair of goggles but we couldn't get into the water.

I still couldn't believe that we were ignorant of the little signs like the rough waves, the drizzle and the strong wind.

He's also unaware of the environment.

And it's time for me to be in the picture too!

And happily obliging Meen to have one with me.

And strike a pose on a dead tree trunk found on the beach.

Meen started running as the rain started falling.

And they ran too.

Started to become panicky.

It was drizzling but we still didn't absorb the situation and so, we were still having fun.

I thought that this was a normal situation there and kept telling Meen that this wasn't the right beach to have fun.  And we decided to look for another beach (because there were so many beaches along the coast).  Boy! We were wrong!

Nasib baik tak jadi apa-apa kat! But we still visited other beaches throughout that day!
