We were the last people to visit uncle pak jan on 1 feb from 10.00-10.30pm. He passed away at 5.00am the next morning, about 7 hours later. He was papa's best friend. Truly a friend in need and both of us cherish his friendship. Alfatihah to him and may Allah put him among the believers in jannah.
We arrived at his house around 10pm that night, after we attended a Chinese New Year feast at our old neighbour's house. The main reason we went to his house was because in December he told Papa to bring you guys to his house since it's been a loooong time since he last saw you.
He was already resting in his room. So we had to wait while Aunty Min prepped him up on his wheel chair. He broke both his legs after falling down in the toilet in July 2013 and after a few months recuperating in the hospital with a few surgeries in between was wheelchair-bound ever since.
We watched the TV and Zoey was with her usual antics.
It turned out that he was just back from Sungai Petani. So we didn't want to stay long because he needed his rest before his dialysis the next morning. We decided to take some pictures because we didn't know when we'll meet him again. It was a fun night and everybody was enjoying the session.
We left around 10.30pm and headed to Pak Chaq's house. Then we went back to Mak Tok's to rest for the night - we had a long day ahead the next day as we're going back to Kuantan. Papa wanted to try the Jeli-Maran stretch this time and we needed to start early. Papa decided to turn off his phone to save the battery life.
The next morning around 8.00am Papa had a call from Uncle Rizal informing that Uncle Pak Jan passed away that morning around 5.00am. We hurried with breakfast and went to his house. It turned out that Aunty Min tried to call Papa at 5.00am but couldn't get through (no doubt!). We stayed a while there before leaving at 11.30am.
Papa was very sad because he lost his best friend. We were sad too because both he and Aunty Min were really good friends and also our former neighbours who we could truly trust to put you guys up at their house whenever something came up - their house was in front of our old house (that's how close Papa and Uncle Pak Jan were - being friends since primary school). And we became neighbours from 2005-2009.
He was 46 years old. We will miss you dear friend! And hope that Aunty Min will be strong.
